In a nutshell: A hospital in Wales tested the best ways to get evidence into practice in an infection control programme. Intermediaries or champions were used to highlight and promote good practice. Among frontline staff, the presence of champions helped to improve behaviour. This was particularly useful when champions were highly visible in clinical areas and gave specific feedback to facilitate change.
